Physical activity and exercise make an extremely positive contribution to men’s recovery at Harvest House. Making use of an outdoor track on the premises and a nearby trail, the daily running program at Harvest House offers residents a positive way to reduce stress and improve their self-esteem and physical health. For many residents, the running program is also an opportunity to set personal fitness and running goals and many participate in Harvest House’s annual Redemption Run. Since the implementation of the running program in 2008, residents have trained for and participated in races of varying lengths, including half and full marathons. By encouraging residents to engage in regular exercise and set physical fitness goals, Harvest House supports a holistic model of recovery.
